when trying to change the nameservers in http://www.dk-hostmaster.dk i get a message that hostgators nameservers are not accepted or registered? anyone else have this problem?

My registrar (namecheap.com) required me to define/configure my nameservers before I could use those nameservers for any of my domains. Otherwise, the registrar's systems won't know the IP/servername of your nameservers.

Perhaps the message you are receiving indicates that you need to define/configure ("register") the nameservers?

That shouldn't be necessary with a regular shared account, only a reseller account with its own nameservers.
