Default What is Disk /dev/sda7 (/home) under network status?

When click network status in cpanel, this list shows Disk /dev/sda7 (/home) with an exclamation point and 81% usage. I have no idea what this is...in the disk usage graph I barely register, so I'm stumped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Patti

That is the disk mount that has the /home directory mounted. That directory contains all of the files for the accounts on the server. HG monitors the disk space and will like take action if it continues to climb.

Thanks so much! I've been trying to backup some of my photos after suffering a terrible hard drive crash...guess the Gator doesn't like that.

Do you mean you are backing up your personal files to your hosting account?

That is not what a hosting account is for. It is for storing your website files and is therefore a breach of the HG ToS.

Using a shared account as a backup/storage device is not permitted, with the exception of one cPanel backup of the same account.
Suggest you look at something like mozy.com for backing up your files.

You know, I honestly didn't know that. I've read online that backing up to your hosting account was a good thing to do. Guess I'll delete the files and look for another option or hosting account.

Thanks for your help!

Mozy is simple to use and you can get a 2Gb account for free.

You can get 5gb Skydrive from cough Microsoft Live. I have used that
before works great.

The only thing sucks is upload speed from my local ISP (Rogers!)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions (keep em coming unless the mods object). I've signed up for a free Mozy account to take a look at. If I like it I don't mind paying for the unlimited account. I just need something reliable that works and doesn't cost a fortune. I used to rely on Dotphoto but after the big crash (my backup hard drive!) I tried redownloading and the files were corrupt. Not a good solution. I have a DVD burner, but those go bad too.

Have you thought about getting an external hard drive to back stuff up to? Looks like for about $100 you can get a 1TB external hard drive. Not sure if that's a fortune to you or not.

But if it's not, you hook it up to your PC via USB, copy your files to it, then stick the external HD on the shelf (or in your fire safe depending on how important the files are).

I have 2 externals...the big crash WAS my backup drive. Hard drives fail, that's why I want an online backup. I'm a graphic designer and files are constantly added/updated so I need to keep it connected and not locked up. I just bought a brand new heavy duty WD and I'm in the process of moving files over from an external that's less than a year old but already acting funky (LaCie). The one I had fell over...useless, and many of the files weren't backed up elsewhere so all are gone forever.
I learned the hard way to have at least 2 backups. It's not impossible, but it'd be unlikely for them both to go out at once.
