Discount coupon for renewals?

I see that there is a discount coupon on the HostGator homepage for the initial signup but I'm wondering what about for renewals?

As a general rule, companies use discounts to attract new customers. They don't need to offer them for renewals, especially when you consider what a hassle it is to switch hosts.

And if there was a discount coupon for renewals it would actually mean that the price was lower
