Default Disabling a database?

Hi

I have a fan site on a semi-dedi and the script it is running on is killing the server due to too many connnections/non closing connections. I don't know how to actually fix the database, so I was thinking of going back to plain old HTML. BUT there is info in the database I'll need to transfer over, so I can't delete it just yet.

Is there any way to disable it, so that a index.htm page I put up is the main page on my URL, but the database is still intact until I'm finished swapping info over?

=O Why are you running mysql_pconnections? Try changing the scripts that don't require it from mysql_pconnect to mysql_connect.

Now you see, this is why I'm thinking go back to HTML, because to be fair I have no clue what you just said. I installed the script with fantastico and know squat about databases. I only know it's that causing my problems because Hostgator told me so....Apparently it's sometihng in the B2evo script, that's all I know....

if you can get to the fantistico in Cpanel, click on the B2evo
and uninstall it.
Or go to the dir. the B2evo is in, and delete the index.php and replace with your (arggg) index.htm
