If thats true, maybe the old server specs will be back?

Or is that wishful thinking?

We are all joining in prayer that the craziness of the shared and reseller package allocations spill over into the dedicated servers area.

it only makes sense as HG doesn't do any backups for dedicated servers... sure you can ftp it to another server somewhere... but that just seems lame, with the added HD, you can just save it to the other HD, the standard HAD this before the server "upgrades", sure the disk space went up on the standard, but the functionality went backwards

yups, and it would be painful to do the backup drill every week, and would take ages to upload if you had an issue which needed restore.

Currently the additional cost(monthly or one time) would be a pinch atleast for me.

Realistically you should be doing BOTH an on-site backup to a second drive, and an off-site backup to a completely different location. You can get off-site backup only packages for very cheap from some a bunch of reliable providers. There's a very long thread on it in the forums here.

So I do think that for people reading this thread, it was necessary to say that both an on-site and an off-site are important. If you've been doing it for three years, well, you've been doing the right thing for three years. But not everybody has.
