Hi, i would like to know the difference between shared hosting and dedicated servers cause i really dont understand. To make it easy for me to udnerstand i have these question just answer it by yes or no with a little explanation. I would like to obtain reseller hosting and i like the diamond package which has this feature
Disk Space: 100gb Bandwidth: 700gb and id like to rent Basic Linux dedicated server ,which is better when it comes to diskspace and bandwidth? and which is more powerful when it comes to security, speed and maintenance? Id also like to add this question as i wanted my basic linux dedicated server to be a reseller host, i'd like to make a website too on my reseller package which is an arcade website, so there will be a reseller website and under my reseller website i will make an arcade website, do you think it will effect the speed, performance of the server or should i avail another dedicated server or pls. suggest another hosting package for my arcade website that i dont need to upgrade in the future. thanks and more power! |

All dedis come with the ability to both resell and to create reseller accounts.
This thread discusses your main question: Why is dedicated server better than shared? |

Wow thanks for the information that thread answered my question about the difference and the importance of dedicated server.
So now my another question is as we all know for starters like me its very expensive and pointless to avail dedicated server immediately right? but what if i have purchased aluminum or lower reseller packages can i upgrade it to dedicated? so if i can upgrade my host package to dedicated, am i going to start my website all over again? or all my database my website resources will be transferred to my new dedicated server. I'd really like to know all about this. thanks! |

IMO you should start out with reseller and move up when you need it.
When you get to a dedicated server you can transfer the sites very easy yourself (as long as they arent huge). Dedicated servers will come with an account transfer function in WHM where basically all you do is enter the cpanel details for the account you want to transfer and it does it for you. If they are too big though hostgator has always helped move sites. |

hg will gladly move your reseller accounts to a dedicated for you. if you don't have the business to support a dedi, starting as a reseller is a very reasonable option.

Generally, most resellers can start out with the Aluminum reseller plan. As your needs expand, you can upgrade to other reseller plans without switching servers.
Once your business outgrows our reseller plans - and isn't that the goal of every reseller? - we will gladly transfer all your files and customers over to a HostGator dedicated server at no charge. Most transfers are completed within 24 hours.
