Dedicated Server Questions

Considering getting a dedi' for a video sharing website. Got some questions. Below's a list of requirements for a popular video sharing script.. can a managed or unmanaged dedicated accomodate these? Which of the modules come with a dedicated?

Would I be able to install modules that aren't on the server already or would HG be able to help me with that?

• - PHP 4.3 and above (including support of CLI)
  - MySQL database server
  - LAME MP3 Encoder
  - Libogg + Libvorbis
  - Mencoder and also Mplayer
  - FFMpeg-PHP
  - GD Library 2 or higher
  - CGI-BIN
  - Be able to run background processes

• - open_basedir = (no value)
  - upload_max_filesize = 100M
  - post_max_size = 100M
  - max_execution_time = 1500
  - session.gc_maxlifetime = 14000
  - safe_mode = off
  - Thread saftery = disabled
  - enable_dl = On

You should be able to enable/configure for all of these things on the dedicated. If you let support know before you get it, they can probably pre-configure for it all.

This one will be a problem. You'll have very hard time getting that to work. There are a number of processes that will stop exes after 90 seconds.

Its doable, but you'll need to do a bit to get it to happen.

Uhhhh do wot kinda bit? When it comes to dedicated i'm a newest of the newbies.

Here's the requirements page. It would be splendid if SOMEONE... could take a look and tell me what I'd need to do on a dedicated to make it work. I very much do not want to go to another company... I know Hostgator, and overall don't want to risk a new company.

It looks like that link is an affiliate link. I don't think it's appropriate to tell people to click there as part of a pre-sales thread unless you specifically mention that. Not to mention it's for another host.

only difference i was able to see was they are hosted on different domains.

I believe that image in the standard one used in WHMCS. I know HostGator uses WHMCS but they changed their version a bit.

HG doesn't use WHMCS
