Ok so i look at The Planet and look at HG. HG's servers are fully managed The planet's are not. Now my question. What falls under FULL management?
Give me some examples? What can HG do that The Planet wouldn't/cant do? Thanks |

Hostgator will touch your server and help with problems. thePlanet will tell you they don't do anything to help you. It's that simple. |

If you are a server wiz and perhaps want to save a few bucks, maybe The Planet would be a better option. I know a reasonable amount of handling the WHM/cPanel stuff on my dedicated box, but I still feel more comfortable there are people who will be there when something goes wrong. That's why I'm here, rather than there. |

The cost difference between a managed and unmanaged server is not very large. It ranges from $20 to $50 a month depending on the deal and the server.
Only server experts should go unmanaged. First time server owners should NOT go unmanaged. |

You don't want to have an unmanaged server unless you really know your stuff, and maybe have enough free miles with your airline to fly to Dallas at a moment's notice if something goes wrong.

Not too much, even if it is $50 a month, that is only $600 on a bill of $3000. I doubt it would be noticed.
Plus, if you have one extended downtime because you are going unmanaged and can't handle it, then that $600 is starting to look kinda stupid not to have spent it. |
