Dedicated Server Hosting.. Some Questions

Hi guys,

I have 3 reseller accounts with hostgator but just yesterday was contacted because they are using a few too many mysql resources.

So I figure it is time for the big move to dedicated.

The question is.

How many sites can I run on the basic dedicated server plan? None of my sites are extremely high traffic, just all between 50 and 100 visitors per day.

Also when I have the server set up. Basically I just want it setup with all the features and installs as you would get in a normal reseller account. An exact same setup with everything working out of the box.

Except I want the mysql connection threads to be at atleast 50 or 100 compared to the 25 with reseller.

Can this be done for the initial setup?

Also can hostgator transfer my current data from my 3 reseller accounts over exactly as they are?

Plus more. Out of the Box?? Will take some tweaking, but yes.

What ever you want, but would maybe not go 100?

Just remember, when first setup, there will be tweaking on your part, and some on HG support, but they will do it.

If you have accounts with HG now, that should be no problem. Again, might have to do some setting up after transfered. Then again, maybe not much. I had to reset some of my Packages/accounts, took all of 20 min. in Root WHM
You will have to check for all the "goodies" to be installed, like my Fantastico and some of my PHP/CGI mods where not installed just to mention a few.

Lots. Far more than the cost of the server, even if you charge fairly low. The general rule is that the server will run out of processor before it runs out of disk space. You get about 50gig of useable space on a basic dedicated, but you can oversell, should you want to do that. (Just be ready to drop in a new dedicated box when it catches up to you...)
