Hi,
I have just parted ways from IXHosting with discust after ony 2 days being with them. I had two sites that went up and down every 5 mins. I am now fighting for my money back. I originally chose them because they included 8 dedicated I.P.'s (which was good because I want to host 2 online shopping sites with digital downloads.) I am looking between two hosting sites, this one and Site5, both which have the best legitimate reviews I can find, both have direct access to cancelling the account if not happy, and both have community forums which to me indicate a well structured company that has little to hide. I don't have the time or money to keep trying hosts, I simply want a company that delivers what it advertises and my sites won't be up and down during each hour. I have three questions before I decide whos going to get my credit card. 1. Does the 'Baby' Plan come with a dedicated I.P. And if not can one or more be added? 2. What is the limit to the number of visitors at any one time on this account? 3. As business grows, will I be able to monitor traffic peak and be able to upgrade to a higher capacity package rather than one day find myself being terminated before given the choice to upgrade? I am asking Site5 the same questions.

I didn't know about the DNS Propagation, neither did the English language challenged East European individal whom IXHosting had chosen to represent them via their support line. Unfortunately IXHosting have too many other issues.
Thank you for those prompt clear answers. I am most impressed with your support.

If you decide to go with Host Gator, give the Awstats program a try. It really breaks down the traffic quite well to your site. I'ts as good as Google's Analytics program as far as I'm concerned.
I moved a client over from another host that had gone down hill and the page load times are terrific, their forums load fast and so far, everything seems to be just as we expected from our research. |

Maybe for just simple traffic numbers, but for seeing what visitors are actually doing on your site or more detail about how they're getting there, Google Analytics can't be beat. And, it's more resistant to spiders because it's javascript.

I am not sure as to why no one mentioned this or even if its relevant in this particular case but arent download sites prohibited? The person asking the question is clearly saying that they are interested in a host who allows "download" sites. perhaps the situation might be different in this case im unsure????

You're allowed to host a shopping cart that sells digital downloads. You can't host a site where you let random people upload arbitrary files to your site, and then send a download link out to everybody.
