Default Deaf and newbie has simple question.

Hello,

I'm lurking for while due I'm kind of shy myself. (due I'm in fact deaf and newbie), anyway, I read customer's reviews on this forum, some good and some bad, I understand not for everyone, now.. I been researching on reseller and managed VPS for my future online business, I often visited WHT forum.

I always often wonder is good idea to sign up super big web hosting company like as Hostgator. and yes I did use live chat and e-mail, they are very good as sales, however, I not sure about tech & support since Support is one of most important thing for me and newbies, I hope I'm right.

so, since it is pre-sale question forum, just one question from me, Any of you whom use Reseller (and/or VPS) plan, how it was?

Nice meet to all of you!

Thanks for your time to read my post,
Ray S.

Hi, welcome to the fourms!

I started my first company as a HostGator reseller several years ago when there were just a couple employees and the support was good then. Even now, hundreds of employees later, I still find them to be very knowledgeable and helpful. They have always answered my questions, whether simple or complex. I would probably recommend you start with a reseller account and later move to a VPS if you need to.

HG support is generally excellent. Remember, people are much more likely to post in a forum when they're unhappy than they are when they're happy. So, you might see 20 bad reviews in here, but balance that against 7,000,000 customers (well, 7,000,000 domains, probably owned by some smaller number of actual living, breathing, customers) who are completely satisfied, but aren't posting anything about it.

A few years ago, HG went through a phase where the ticket support folks sometimes did not read anything past the first line or two of the ticket. I had some problems with this, and so did a few others who complained here in this forum. Since then, management has fixed that problem, and I am completely happy with the promptness, courtesy, and helpfullness of the support staff.

I have a reseller account which is used only for setting up sites for clients. Only one of them has access to their own cPanel - I do all the work for all my clients.

I also have an unmanaged dedicated server.

I've been a HG customer for about four years (I think). I have been using a reseller server since day one. I don't actually resell, rather use different cPanels to control each site. For me it was just easier that way.

As mentioned above, there was a point where tech support was less than ideal. I would say, however, that 99% of the time I have been very pleased with them.

I have toured their old Houston facilities and have written blog entries about them (HG). I see no problem continuing to being a customer of theirs for years to come.

Hey EarlyOut, eLIANT, and Chimpie.

Thanks All of you for post, I enjoy read your post and comments. It is helpful to my research to find right host for me, I understand people put bad review easier then good review like such at WHT forum also. So I not have to take their bad review seriously unless they have good reason.

Again, Thanks for your time and have a wonderful day onward!

Thanks,
Ray S.

Support is one of the main reasons why im with hostgator. When im stuck and dont know what else to do, support always is there to help 24/7. I have had webhosted, VPS, and dedicated.
