I need to develop a relational database application like one can do with Microsoft Access, but do not want to start on something that I cant even install. Does anyone use a system like that on Hostgator (and what is it please)?
Thanks in advance, Corky |

mysql , it the only one Hostgator offers, I believe. It's probably the most popular, and best supported database used in web applications. It's already installed with HG. A good place to start would be mysql.com. As far as administering a mysql database, the most popular method is phpmyadmin, which is also already installed with Hostgator as well.
If I'm not understanding you correctly, please clarify. |

Thanks fo rthe reply,
Mysql is a bit too low level for what I am looking for - I am looking for a product that sits on top of mysql that provides form support and triggers and reports etc. |

I'm not sure what you mean by form support and reports, or that it sits on top of mysql. For my high-end database needs, I use Postgresql, it has triggers, functions, foreign keys, views and referncial integrity. But is not offered by HostGator. (www.postgresql.org)
