Default Cute FTP

First of all congrats on your tech staff, I live chatted last night and on only the second call got sorted out. I got confused with my CuteFTP settings and my latest addition to my account would not open in the correct place.

As it turns out what should be advised is that, when opening a new account in Cute FTP type it BY HAND, not cut and paste from Hostgators email. I did the latter first and it screwed up, I did the former, via the online tutorial, and it worked perfectly.

One other thing that may be of help to us poor less than perfect mortals; the finer twaeking of CuteFTP to allow the best possible compatibility with Hostgator would be a good thing. In which tab do I ??????????? etc to get the most out of the two programs etc etc.

Hope you had Happy Xmas; and a healthy new year to all staff on hostgator.

They are a big help if not already known. I was thinking more in terms of the drop down from tools which includes global options and Macros & scripting, alien to me.

I haven't used CuteFTP a lot but have used it with various accounts and generally the default settings work fine. For the more specialized operations (of any FTP program or script) it would be best to check with the authors and in the case of CuteFTP they have documentation here.

Don't get me wrong, the tutorials are brilliant. I was just wondering if it would be possible for someone with more "expertise" to explain the intricate garbled techno speak contained within the software. Its not a problem really as, you quite rightly state, the default is fine. I was just wondering if "I was missing anything".

it's much easier to answer a specific question of "what does this sentence mean?" about something that confuses you rather than a generailzed kind of request, which would require that someone go into cute ftp, and guess at what you might not understand...
