I can only speak about my personal experience....but found my purchase of a HostGator server contract to be thoroughly professional and efficient procedure. Perhaps the process is simplified when the applicant is the official owner of any related credit/debit card, and is completeing such a transaction on his/her own behalf. Quite simple really?

Exactly. The outraged customer was coming into the system with an IP from Colombia, trying to use a prepaid Australian credit card. Red flag, anyone?!
Then, not content to get it straightened out with HG, he got impatient, and tried to create a new account, using the same domain, but from an Australian IP. As GatorJMartin pointed out, this just raised more red flags. Somehow, despite the fact that he's the one who screwed up, twice, he's concluded that HG lies, discriminates against people from certain countries, is arbitrary, etc., etc. This is like a man who kills his parents demanding leniency from the court because he's an orphan.
