Positive Customer Review of HostGator

I've been using a few various webhosts over the past few years (1&1, Yahoo, Godaddy, blueHost, etc) and HostGator, by far, has offered the best value.

I partially like their unlimited disk space, bandwidth and better handling of php/mysql. Plus, their systems allow for file uploading via the web (ie. to manage a photo gallery from remote locations). I also like the prompt and knowledgeable support I've received through the LiveChat feature. No more having ot wait on hold for minutes on end.

Overall, HostGator has exceeded what I had expected, and their prices are very fair for what they offer. You will find cheaper webhosts on the Internet, but probably not one with the value that HostGator offers. I just wish they had renewal promotions for existing customers, instead of just new customers (even a 10% break for renewing would be good). (There may be some sort of incentives for existing customers, but I'm not aware of any.)

Thanks for yoru review. I'm glad to hear that you're happy with HostGator.

You're right in saying we don't really offer promotions for renewals, but with our new billing system, we'll have more control over what we can do with promotions and coupons, so there might be some changes coming as a result of that.

It would be greatly appreciated by me (and probably other existing customers) if we get something for renewing; even if it's only 10% off a 1 year service plan. I'm thinking that by offering such a renewal benefit, there is a better chance of sign-ups and retention.

My only concern with the billing system is the various charges that you can incur for some fairly minor stuff (at least, what I see as minor) like changing your primary domain name. Other services, such as 1&1 (last I checked) you could do this from within your control panel, and usually didn't have to pay anything to do it. (Not that people change their primary domains often anyway.)
