If I wanted to share the capabilities to view the stats of my website, is there a way I could set up a remote account for that person rather then having to disclose my admin login?

Hi a quick search revealed two results.
Here is one http://forums.hostgator.com/showthre...public+awstats By the way, the search button is at the top of the page and is called "Search" ![]() Welcome to the forums |

Im getting a screen that says I do not have permission to view that. Must be why they didn't show up on my search. When I searched, before posting, as I always do, I got several results that didn't fit what I was looking for.
Believe me, I understand the hassle of new members asking the same questions over and over. I've worked from home and online for nearly 10 years and I bet I've answered the same 10 questions a million times. Thanks for the welcome. |

You will be able to see it once you activate your account with the email the forum sent you.

The link refered in the other thread is :
http://www.josheli.com/vox/view_source.php?awstats.php Another thing you could do if you know a bit of Perl or PHP is to display the PNG images of Webalizer located in the /tmp/webalizer directory. As an example, if you want to display the daily usage for september 2007 you would display daily_usage_200709.png with your script. Happy scripting... |

I have josheli awstats.php running on a couple client sites and all has been running well until recently when the sites started to get hacked. It seems according the the logs that they have downloaded the awstats.php and then used the username and password to hack into the site. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a work around other then installing a separate copy of awstats on the server? Right now I have removed the awstats.php file from the server.

^^ if that is true, I didn't have any problems yet & I hope i won't have any, renameing the file to something other than the default will surely help you alot.

AWStats is free so just download it from http://awstats.sourceforge.net/ and when you are in the config, point to your HostGator log file. Now the stats can be access via a public URL.

Well apparently I cannot install AWSTATS on the server. I downloaded and uploaded the latest awstats and couldn't get it to run, sent a note to support and the reply was:
This perl file is attempting to access many resources that your account does not have access to read, write, or execute. AWStats does not install in a script folder like other web components, it integrates into Apache outside of your home folder. You cannot install your own AWStats. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Anyone else have this problem, is so how did you manage it? |

I was trying to do this once... I found the easiest solution is simply to use Google Analytics instead... then you can give someone access to stats for their domain... I really liked the weekly e-mail feature... because people always want to know, but don't usually want to login and check.
