I'm brand new to hostgator and I'm not even sure where to post questions. I know this forum says it's for pre-sales questions and I've already bought my hosting here. Is there a forum just for run of the mill peer support?
I signed up for hosting here mainly because I fell in love with some of the supposedly free templates in the template demo on the sales page. I was wondering where exactly we get those templates once we have an account? To get started, since I'm a complete newbie, I began creating my site in the sitebuilder which I like a lot but unfortunately I can't seem to find a blog page in the create a page section of the site builder. Any suggestions on how to create a blog as part of your site while using the site builder tool? Thanks for any help! |

You are only seeing a subset of the forum right now. Once your account has been activated you will see the support areas as well.
The templates can be found and downloaded at http://templates.hostgator.com/. As for a blogging section, I would suggest using a blog script such as WordPress. It should be available in Fantastico in your cPanel. |

Ahh, so there is a more to this forum!
Any idea how long it takes to get activated? I assumed I already was since I signed up last night and have already got my site up and running. http://flamingogirl.com |

FlamingoGirl:
Welcome to HostGator! Once you get your site published with sitebuilder you can login to your control panel and click on the "Fantastico" icon. From there you can install Blog programs, i recommend WordPress. It is very easy to use and configure. When you are running a website published with sitebuilder you will need to create a link inside your website to the directory you install your blog in. If you need help, we have 24/7 Support at 1-866-96-GATOR, Live Chat, or email support@hostgator.com! And we'll help you out. -Josh Loe |

Sorry to keep posting in this forum, but it's where I started the thread.
I'm having problems with loading wordpress blogs using fantastico. First question is how do you suppress the directory listing of files? Also, why doesn't it recognize index.php in Wordpress folder? Anything I select in my wordpress page pulls up a directory listing, not a webpage. It's not acting like a website, it's acting like a file folder. Any help would be appreciated. |

Use the Index Off feature in cPanel to turn off the directory display for appropriate directories.
