Default CPU Usage Question

Hello,

I have been searching around the internet for hosting companies and host gator look like one of the best.

I'm 40% sure l will need a dedicated server however, if at the start when l have less then 100 members could l get away with shared.

My site will have CRON's running every minute or so and have allot of MySQL queries. I think that with less then 100 members it shouldnt take up too much CPU but l dont want to cause everyone else to lag, so here l am asking.

Thanks.

P.S Why do you have to register to post pre-sales questions? Cause then when you register you have to choose your host gator plan... seems a little dumb to me.

That is what l always do, l find it is the best way and l did dismiss most of them as idiots .

Also if the site is a huge pain to move, then you might just start with the dedicated, if you start with the semi-dedicated, you will not be as likely to be suspended.
Moving the site would be a big problem if the box l went to made my PHP scripts encounter errors, having downtime for 1+ days is a big no no for me. I'm not rich and cant afford Semi-Dedicated, Dedicated when l first start of... its a PHP text based game, and you donate $5.00 and you get access to extra features this is how l'm planning to pay for the box so l cant start of with dedicated.

There are some limits on shared accounts, such as max connections of 25, which is fairly high, but still is a limit. The semi-dedicated account does not feature that specific limit. Again, the semi-dedicated account would limit the trouble too much usage, the limits are far higher on that account and its cheap, compared to a dedicated.
With the 25 max connections for MySQl this could be a problem.

This doesn't mean only 25 people can play at once. Typically, people connect to the database for less than a second before closing the connection, just to make a query or perform some other action. You'll be able to have many many more people than 25 playing at the same time and not hit this limit. I think Serra once gave guidelines for about how many simultaneous users that kind of max connection limit can support but I can't find them at this moment.
