For the record, the amount of users your forum has, is irrelevant. The amount of users you have online at a time, and the number of hits per minute etc are all factors in the CPU usage of your site.

So do you have an approximate idea how many users can be online simultaneously assuming that each of them click or refresh a page once every 20-30 seconds? I am new to web hosting and don't have experience with this CPU usage stuff so I am trying to get a general idea, thanks!

Is that with a shared server? Didn't you also mention that someone was suspended with 70 members on a forum? What's with the big discrepancy?

The 70 members thing was a joke from another thread.

That comment was intended as sarcasm, referring to another post in another section of the forum. The post has been removed, it appears (other than in YM's quote in his post.) If you grow to the point that you have 1000's of users online at once then it would probably be time to look to upgrade.

See what you did Serra? You caused confusion, which is what you were complaining about in the other thread

Guess he left 4,000+ of his legacy. I have to wonder how many other frequent posters will stop helping out thanks to the complaints of a few?

The exact same thing happened about a year ago (what is it about January?)...after "stifling input" became a short-lived controversy, he pruned down, but eventually things got back to normal.

Yes I recall and actually talked to him about his disappearance along with a plea for his return. I personally think the forum suffers from the loss of any frequent poster who provides help and guidance whether mixed with humor and ridicule or not.
With comments from HG "watching" for users stepping on toes while they/we are answering most of others users questions and problems seems a bit ironic and makes me wonder why anyone would continue helping? Perhaps they would be better off using the ticket system for their answers?
