Hi run a blog that I'm hoping will gain popularity. I want to leave my old host because they limit me to 30 simultaneous requests, and 10% of the CPU time of their boxes. What are the limits at hostgator, and what would my options be if I thought I was going to surpass them?
Thanks~ |

You should look at the Terms of Service to see the limits (listed in section 7a).

HG also limits a user to 30 simultaneous mySQL connections, but if you're hitting that limit, there's probably something wrong with your code. A "connection" should be a quick "poke" to get something from the database, and it should then be released. Bad code will keep connections open when they don't need to be.

just forget it - the shared web hosting, go with Gator's VPS++, nobody will tell you a thing about CPU% usage and HDD usage and RAM usage.
VPS > any shared web hosting

That's fine, but the shared servers generally out-perform the VPS ones.
