I recently noticed that the cpanel is extremely up to date. However, we still have an older version skin and upload manager. I just think it would be much nicer, and much easier to navigate if we had the cpanel v3 skin and cpanel file manager v3. But these are just my suggestions, and I find that these simple upgrades could make a world of difference in navigation.

You can submit a help desk ticket and request having your skin changed to the X3 skin.

I asked for the new skin after finding out about it here (in an older thread), and agree that it should be default for new accounts at least.

I agree that the default theme is a poor one. The image below shows the theme that hosts another of my sites, and it is considerably easier to use.

Did you make sure you were on the X3 theme?

I'm not on X3, and I do plan to change my theme. I'm just supporting the suggestion that the default is changed to something else.

I may not be in the right place; being a newbie. I wish there were some help pages for the functions available in the file manager of the cpanel. I have had some weird experiences trying to copy and move folders or files. I have also been confused about anchors or linking using the HTML editor. It would sure be nice to have some step by step illustrations for the use of these functions. I would even be willing to create video's for everyone to use for free; if I had some step by step procedures.

darell-if you open a new thread with the specifics of what you're having trouble with, the people in the forums can probably help you to learn to do it yourself, which i gather is your goal.

You just have to ask for the latest cPanel version:
https://tickets.hostgator.com/login/ They will not automatically update it for you.
