Howdy.
I'm signing up for our first website (it'll be a shared website), and have a few questions: 1. I purchased my domain using a different provider (since that seemed to be the consensus as to what I should do in case I have issues...don't want to put all eggs in one basket). Since my domain hasn't finished the registration process, can I go ahead and order hosting service from HG? Then, once my domain registration goes through change the nameservers to point to HG? If so, how would I access my website during the transition period? IP only? 2. How will I handle subdomains having the host and domain register separate? Will I need to setup each subdomain separately and then update the name servers for each? Or, if I update the servers for main domain, does that take care of any subdomains I create on HG? Thanks! |

1 Yes that will be fine. Just change to the nameservers when ready.
2 Subdomains are handled through the nameservers for your account as they are set up. No extra work unless you want to host them in a different location.

Thanks for the response.
Just to make sure I understand on the subdomains--If I go ahead and start setting up them now, before the domain registration/nameserver update is complete, I should still be fine? Or do I need to wait until after I update the nameserver entries on the registrar's site before adding new subdomains on HG? Thanks. |

You can add them now, they won't work until the nameservers have propagated though.
