Default Couple of Questions Before I Sign Up

1. I want a private domain registration. From what I've read, Hostgator does not do private domain name registrations. If I register my domain name privately with someone, such as GoDaddy, how difficult is it to transfer over to HostGator, and what all is involved with the transfer? Will my domain name still come up as private after I transfer it?

2. I have big plans for my planned site. If I start with one of the smaller hosting plans, I assume it will not be difficult to upgrade to a higher hosting package as my site grows. Is this true?

There is no need to transfer the domain when you register it. Just add the nameservers if it is a shared account. If your getting a dedicated server then make your own nameservers.

Forgive my ignorance, but how would I go about doing that?

I have two domains from godaddy pointing to my account here. All you do is add the nameserver at godaddy and then add the parked domain in your cpanel here. Job done.

So when I register with Hostgator, they will send me all of the Nameserver info to add at GoDaddy, or do I have to find the Nameserver info out some other way?

Yes, when your account is set up you will receive an email with information on how to access your account and the nameservers you should use. Once you have that information you would just log into your GoDaddy domain management and change the nameservers to the ones in the email. After some time for propagation the domain will point to your HG account.

To add to Rick's thing because he's right. If you have a question on what the nameservers should be and you haven't gotten the e-mail for whatever reason, just contact HG Support and they can find the nameserver information for you to use.

I once had that problem but the e-mail arrived days after being sent.
