What happens if huge apache core dump files get dropped into my directories? Is this part of my hosting space being used?
Why are core dump files being placed into my directories? Many times when this happens I have to delete my files and reupload them all. I also delete all the core dump files to, since they are in my way. Today all my cgi programs that were working fine for the past few weeks are broken, right after the core dump issue. I doubt the two issues are coincidence. Shouldn't you guys use a dedicated core dump directory for these situations? And any tips on how I can get my cgi programs working again after a core dump, since almost all of my cgi programs are broken with 500 errors now? I'm sorry, I opened a support ticket, but all I got was a perl hello world program and they closed the ticket! But I'm not using perl! And a hello world program does not explain core dump issues. When the issue is resolved, I will respond back to this post with positive information.. just right now I'm a bit ticked, that all my cgi programs are broken except one. Why one is working, is beyond me. Is a core dump usually related to someone elses script crashing on the same server? Because almost all my cgi directories had core dumps in them - even the directories that are low traffic. |

You shouldn't be getting core dump files loaded to your account, please email support@hostgator.com

This isn't something that can be fixed (Technically, they aren't broken, but restricted from running). Do you have any specific cgi programs that are broken? If so, send an email to support for each specific cgi so they can determine why they are banned. |
