Default Considering Move to HG - ASP questions

Hello, I'm considering moving my sites (10+) to a HG Swamp account. Some of my sites use ASP, VBScript and MS Access. Ya ya I know, I will be moving them to PHP/MySQL over time but it is what it is

Can I host these sites with HG and (ChilliSoft) ASP and MSAccess (which is just an MDB file) without modification? Has anyone ever attempted this successfully? Anyway to test out my scripts before signing up?

I'd love to hear from HG Support as well as customers.

Other than that HG is looking great!

Thanks!!!

-Tom

It's complicated, once you throw the Access DB in there... it's not as simple as just putting the db in the same folder...

It's unlikely you could do it without a dedicated server... even then it would take more work than it's worth. You could use chilisoft or apache asp, but then you need to install more things to make the DBs work.

My best suggestion is stay with a Windows host for now and migrate over to HG as you get the sites converted.

E-mail sales@hostgator.com for an official response though

Unfortunately Chilisoft ASP does not support ASP.NET, MSSQL, or Access.

Actually we are currently looking for beta testers for our long awaited Windows Hosting. There will be an official thread about it in the next couple of days here on the forums.

Talking about windows hosting,
Would we need two reseller accounts to be able to sell windows hosting or will we be able to split the total bandwidth/space to our liking?

I don't have much requirement for windows so it would hardly be worth it to have a resellers account for windows.

No, you will have to buy 2 reseller accounts

I would hope so. I designed a site with a client who used another host... they ran Windows in the foreground and Unix in the background... sounds great... not really.... there's a reason that Windows isn't unix

Is that "couple of days" in HG time (whereas "Windows servers in March 2007" is HG time) or real person time?

Either way, I can't wait for this beta. If HG had a well-run, competitively priced windows dedi program I'd move my windows dedicated here for sure.
