Question ???? Confused Newbie

Hello All, Pre-enrollment questions.I have 2 domains and 1 subdomain registerd and hosted through GO Daddy. I believe I am restricted from transferring the domains for another 30-45 days. I have sites hosted under Go Daddy site hosting for on both Domains. Can I transfer the sites to Host Gator under a business hosting plan and let the domains remain hosted at Go Daddy?
If so will this limit my ability to add additional domains at Host Gator or add additional sub-domains on existing domains hosted at Go Daddy? Sorry so confusing. Thanks

You can have your domains registered elsewhere and host with us. Here is a video tutorial on changing your name servers in case you need it.

Cool Re: ???? Confused Newbie

Thanks SteveN, Still a bir of confusion though. I have sub-domain set up on a domain etc. Will this sub-domain opertae as it does now I am comfortable with moving or reinstalling sites on Host Gator but will I be able to use all the features such as the pop 3 mail and other amounts features that are directly tied to the domain I think what I am seeing is just follow the video and just change the name severs and keep the domain hosting alive at Go Daddy right. I may just be overcomplicating this entire process! Thanks Again.

Hello,

Yes all of these things should still function normally, however you will need to create this subdomain in cPanel in our system. As long as the nameservers are pointing to our server, our server will handle the DNS for that domain, that is, all sub-domains, forwards, etc, will be controlled here.

zlr, IMO you may still be fuzzy about the difference between domain hosting and registration. For you and other newbies, the link in my signature has a very non-technical discussion that may clarify many concepts.

Thanks gwyneth I am on my way to scope it right Now. Thank you as well
GatorJlavoy. I actualy have a lot of sweat equity in trying to get things set up correctly. I will be setting up numerous domains so I know now I can register/host the domains one place and host the sites at another if I decide to do so. Thanks again

Looks like your caps lock key is faulty.

No not faulty, its just after 30+ years behind a keyboard using a laptop a lot of the time my typing skills are still pretty poor. I seem to hit the caps lock key unintentionally very often. My apoligies I know it's improper netiquette. I meant know offense to anyone. I was really not shouting simply tired and not paying attention to detail!
