Comparison to Aplus.net

Hello:

We are currently using dedicated hosting services with Aplus.net and are looking to switch to Hostgator. Does anyone have experience with both providers and can shed some light on support services as well as network performance? Does anyone use services such as www.atwatch.com to monitor their HG websites? What is the performance like?

We are looking to go production with a social community website.

Let me ask you this...what is it about aplus that's making you want to switch? If you answer that it will be easier to say if Hostgator has/is good at those things.

We get what appears to be brief network outages about two times a week, each lasting for about 30 mins. Response time is sometimes not great too.

Wea re mainly concerned about response time/network performance

The network performance here has been excellent. All their servers are located at The Planet (http://www.theplanet.com/) which is a very big, very reliable data center.

I've always found response time from both support and my server (not sure which you meant) to be speedy.

I appreciate the response. Now, you have opened up a can of worms. If The Planet offers the same services, why shouldn't I use theirs since they own the reliable data center. What value does HG add that I won't get if I went directly to The Planet.

Better support in general and managed services?

The Planet just has the servers, you'd be on your own completely to administer them...

HG managed servers from The Planet are somehow cheaper than managed servers from The Planet themselves...

There are a few people around here you could ask them have left HG to use The Planet directly since they feel they have enough knowledge now to run their own server...

hi,
i would say hostgator dedicated servers are "Best In Industry"
cause they are fairly priced, Excellent Network performance, and the most important is they actually "manage the servers" with their excellent support system, if there's a issue, your solution would be just a ticket away.

I've 3 dedicated servers, my clients have 3 seperate servers here, so over all thats 6 servers here and We are 10/10 satisfied with everything hostgator offers.
