No, you do not have shell access. If you require shell access to do an install, and know what you are doing, they may allow you to have it for a limited time. I don't know that for sure, but you can email support@hostgator.com to see if they will enable shell access for 24 hours on your account.

How can you not know what your own company will and will not let a person do?

I am not a HostGator employee. I know many of the policies, but not all. When I don't know if something is possible, I advise them to ask because that is the easiest way to find out. For a complete description of a Peer Support Leader, please see this thread.

o0CAPPI0o, let us know how that works out for you.

Ok, The other option is to ask if they would install the script for you. Basic script installation cost is 20.00, some cost more.

We can grant you 24 hours of access via Jail Shell which should allow you to install your script. For more info, please contact sales@hostgator.com

I apologize for the conflicting information. JZ is correct in telling you that we do not grant shell access carte blanche on non-dedicated servers. He simply was not aware that we were still allowing the Jail Shell access, and I appreciate him for helping out and letting me know about this thread so I could clarify.
