Thumbs up Coldfusion/Railo on Hostgator? Yes, Please :)

Ok, so I talked to sales about this, below is the message I sent:
Quote:
I am a long time hostgator customer and I am also a coldfusion programmer. I know hostgator hasn't supported coldfusion in the past because it would be too expensive to purchase licenses for every server. But now with the free open source version of coldfusion available called Railo, why hasn't it been added? Its free and you would appeal to a whole new demographic of customers!
The Response:
Quote:
Hello,

Currently we do not have any plan to incorporate Railo just yet. I would encourage you to express your interest on our forum. If there are enough interest, I am sure we will be more than happy to add that as a feature.

Feel free to contact us if you have any further request/question. Thank you for contacting HostGator.com

Best regards
So there it is. If enough people show interest in getting support for Coldfusion/Railo there may be a chance that it will be coming to hostgator soon.

Whether you would use it or not, its good to have the option, lets get some responses going so we can raise some eyebrows.

From the looks of it, Railo runs ontop of a Java Servlet container like Tomcat, Resin, or JBoss. These type of programs are quite resource intensive and not suitable for shared hosting.

However this is a combination you could install on a vps. This kind of custom software configuration is what VPS servers are ideal for.

Have a great day.

I was just searching for Java related support and came across this thread.
Seems like Hostgator tech Support prefer feature request be voiced on
the Forum before contacting them. So here goes.
Why is it that Hostgator does not consider NGASI AppServer Manager and
Universal App Panel.
Their software supports JAVA, RAILO, and other languages hosting on
shared servers.
Resource usage concerns are addressed because NGASI enables
Administrators to set CPU
and memory limits of user applications and servers.
And integrates well with cPanel and Plesk..
