Lightbulb ColdFusion (/ ASP / MsSQL)

Ok, so this has been brought up before- but I think that I have to refresh HG's memory every now and then

ColdFusion (as much as I dislike it) is used out there in the big real world and I would love to see HG have some CF reseller options.
Its hard to find a good hosting company like HG and I would really love to see them with CF reseller options (and less importantly Windows / ASP / MsSQL based options as well).

One of the reasons they're a good company is that they remain focused. Given the perceived deterioration of support over the past year or so, do you really want HG branching out? New offerings would require extensive training, and besides the cost, I think that support's got more than they can handle already. I'm pretty confident that at this point, adding new services to HG's plate would result in poorer quality of service for us all.

Agreed. Have some friends that use the mS stuff and are getting hacked all the time. Leave Linux to do Internet hosting here at HG. HG has there plate full now with out getting Billy boys software involved...
This is my unprofessional opinion.

I know where you guys are coming from, and personally I hate ASP/MsSQL and ColdFusion.

Unfortunately, +-20% of my clients require ColdFusion.

Keep in mind, that I dont even advertise MS/ASP/ColdFusion hosting (on my site or otherwise) and I still have so much request for it.
As much as I hate the above mentioned technologies; I have to suck in my gut and venture into the devils pit.

I do agree about the ASP stuff. I hate using ASP, but I keep getting approached by companies with ASP sites. I really hate to turn down good money, so I take the work, but I don't have a good way to host ASP sites, so I'm losing out on the hosting money for these sites.

Post Re: ColdFusion (/ ASP / MsSQL)

I know we have the Chilisoft ASP option; however:

a) Its not very cost efficient (better just to go to an ASP host)
b) Its not ASP (google for a comparison chart, you will see there are quite some differences)
c) Its almost always used with an MsSQL db (double whammy)

But its not even ASP/MsSQL that really bothers me - I dont even have clients that require that (but yet once again, I dont advertise it and I believe once I do I will get requests for it). I do have a "MS" based SP and they seem to be ok from all the user reviews - etc.
What really kicks me hard is that damned ColdFusion. My current SP for my CF based hosting is quite slow (though I dont have a problem in any other area of their services). The fact that I am already using international based hosting instead of local based hosting already slows me down - I dont like getting slowed down further because my SP's pipe isn't big enough. ;/

I am sorry to bring this old question back. I am looking for a good host like HG that offers ASP.net (2.0 and 3.0) and MS SQL. Could any one offer some recommendations?

I do love ColdFusion since this is what I am now doing(coding for a University in CF/Access db) but getting some ready made scripts seems to be a pain in the ass and I do have to work my brain a lot more than just using open source php scripts to start with.

CF is pretty expensive and is again limited on coding side, need to use a lot of javascript with it to complete project.

Anyone know good content managment system for CF site?

I know it would be a huge undertaking for HostGator, but it would be a nice addition. We have 10 sites using ColdFusion currently and that list is rapidly growing.

We currently use DailyRazor.com for ColdFusion hosting. Does anyone know of a better host? Our sites lock up about once a week and they have to restart the ColdFusion services. We have a dedicated server running ColdFusion that does not have not had an issue with (our personal license running on a leased dedicated windows server that we manage ourselves).

We never have to restart anything on our own server and are not happy with DailyRazor at this point. We are looking for a host that will handle daily backups and OS updates so we have less to worry about on a daily basis.

Coldfusion is a dead and dying language and its going to disappear. Great idea, I personally love it, but its a dodo bird...
