I own "there.com" which is located at another registrar. It has email forwarded to my gator account, "here.com" which allows me to access it from my machine's Outlook. The trouble is I can't send outgoing mail from Outlook using that account. So, I would like to create an addon domain, "there.here.com", so I can setup my email account, "mymail@there.com", from cpanel and Outlook. But, I don't want to have any down-time for "mymail@there.com" while the name server propagates from the other registrar to "ns13.hostgator.com" and "ns14.."

Assuming that I have explained the situation correctly, do you have any suggestions how I might proceed?

Thank you.

You shouldnt lose any email when changing nameservers, you will just end up having email in 2 locations. Email sent prior to the switch will be on the old server, email snet after will be on the new server, but no messages should be lost.

My account on the other server is currently pointing to it's name servers, "ns1.other.com" & "ns2.other.com" which I left intact. I went ahead and simply added, "ns13.hostgator.com" and "ns14.hostgator.com". This was about 24 hours ago. ( I also 'locked' the domain at the other server as well, in case that is at all relevant, which I don't think it is. ) So, I tried to "Add a Domain" here at hostgator but was unsuccessful. The Error message is quoted below.

So, my question is, do I need to remove the other host's nameservers from the list on their server? If that is not the case, then I suppose I just need to wait more time until the new one's propagate? Or, is there something else I am missing?

- Thank you for your replies.

Nameserver ips for wizeowltutoring.com are: 66.17.140.22,64.74.125.20,66.17.140.20,66.17.140.1 8 Sorry, that domain (wizeowltutoring.com) is already pointed at an ip address that does not appear to use dns servers on this server or master servers! Please transfer the domain to this server's nameservers or have your admin add one of its nameservers ips to /etc/ips.remotedns and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver!

I was not able to keep both sets of nameservers. I kept only the hostgator nameservers on the other server. This works. I am now able to create the add-on domain, receive and send email, manage the domain, etc, from my cpanel at hostgator.
