I run a anti-virus program everyday due the amount of email my site receives. Last night I backed up my site and ftp the zip file into a local folder on my hard drive to burn to CDR.
While running my anti-virus program today, I noticed the backed-up zip file was showing infected files. So I went to my other computer and ran the anti-virus program to the backed up zip file alone, and both computers running the anti-virus program picked up 11 infected files in the back-up zip file. I know my computers were clean cause I run the anti-virus on them daily. I emailed Host Gator to inform them that my backed up zip file was infected. That there is infected files on the server. Here is their responce: > There is very less chance of virus on the server as our servers are linux machines and they don't get infect as there windows conterparts. The file may have got infected during the network transfer from the server to your machine. > > Please feel free to write in if you have any questions. We are more than happy to hear from you. > > Warm Regards, > Support Staff. My warning to anybody that is backing up their files in zip format to run a anti-virus program on the backed up zip file, as you may have some infected files in there. Knowing that my CPU's are checked daily for virus's and have been clean until I FTP the backed up zip, shows me that it did not come from my side. |

Everyone pay no attention to buck. He has no idea what he's talking about. What he's saying isn't possible.
Buck every post you make is to complain about something, and now you are just posting complete garbage. If you have no understanding of something do not go warning others. Let's go over your last few posts..... You claim we didn't email about the move. (wrong) You say we don't provide any support on the phone. (wrong) And now you are claiming our linux server is creating viruses in your account to download. (completely wrong) This is your warning anymore inaccurate posts and we will have to ban you from our forum. We don't appreciate you always complaining and posting your version of the truth. If your unhappy find a new host. But please don't come posting in here trying to scare people.

We will be glad to provide the next 30 days of your hosting at no charge so that you may seek out a more competent web host, as nothing we do can please you. You have been a valued customer of ours for over 8 months, but your recent accusations regarding our policies and services are without base. For reasons unknown to me, it would appear that you have decided to head up your own personal anti-hostgator campaign by posting inacurate information on our public forums in an effort to dissuade future customers from choosing us as their next hosting provider.
These forums are provided to our clients and potential clients as a means to obtain support, share ideas, and disseminate information relevant to our business. We do not edit users comments, so from time to time you may find some rather unflattering opinions in regards to our service. That is understandable, and is also to be expected as we cannot please 100% of the people 100% of the time. However, we cannot allow you or others to deliberately post false information, so any further such behavior will result in the loss of your posting privilages. This thread is being locked.
