Default Chrysler being resynced

Email has been flakey on the 29 domains I host on Chrysler for 3-4 days.

Yesterday I was told the load was high and the drive was going to be replaced.

This morning I was told that the server was RSyncing.

Then I was told that the email problem was because my ISP was having routing issues.

All 29 of the domains are NOT accessed through the same ISP. I am on Charter... my major clients are on Charter, Embarq, Bellsouth.

Publishing a website is slow. WHM and CPanel are sluggish.

This is affecting my largest and best customers.

What is really up with Chrysler?

I also want to know, my site is down and I have been having email issued for 3 days now, affecting me and my clients.

Please tell us what's going on and solve this as soon as posible.

I have been wondering the same thing, Andre. I have about 10 websites in Chrysler, but they are my best clients as well.

No one from Hostgator is reading this... this is a peer support board. All we can do is feel your pain.

Replies to the support ticket ranged from "there's nothing wrong" all the way up to "it's your fault". At this point, I will accept any answer and whatever consequences may follow... as long as that answer is clearly explained and true.

Chrysler had disk issues starting earlier this week and we had to do chassis and drive swap on Tuesday night. A few hours earlier tonight we had more issues with this server and were forced to switch back to the last used chassis again. We are currently resyncing the 48 hour old data again to a newly reloaded chassis . This should fix the issues with the chrysler server that it has been having.

The Chrysler server is still transferring data to the new server with RAID10 at this time. Everything should be done by tonight. I will make sure all your plans get updated to the new specs. I am sorry for any inconvenience caused by this.

I will keep all of you updated on this issue.

If it isn't complete and stable by tonight I'm probably gonna have to bail. My clients are completely livid. If it weren't for the relationships I build with my customers I would have lost them already.

I still cannot, for the life of me, understand why this has all taken over a week to resolve. When the dust settles I would really like to hear a detailed accounting of the problem. The ball must have been dropped multiple times by multiple people.

Please keep us updated.

Likely you should bail as soon as you can afford to get out of shared hosting. These types of problems are too common in shared hosting. If you are serious about your business, you should move to a dedicated solution.

My response from them was:

Quote:
Hello Tina,

Chrysler has been experiencing some intermittent issues recently that we have been working to address.

We are keeping the following forum post updated with our progress:

http://forums.hostgator.com/showthread.php?t=16447

It would be best to use alternate email addresses for email communication at this point until the issue is resolved. Please inform your clients that the techs are working on the issue so it can be resolved as quickly as possible. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Have a great day!

Jessica J.

So how on earth am I going to explain to 50 clients that their e-mail isn't going to be working and they have to change the way they are comfortable doing business?

You don't need to ask them to change the way they are doing business. You need to tell them that the issue is being worked on and that if they have any urgent emails, they should use an alternate email system, such as gmail.

If your clients can't understand that systems sometimes have problems, then you have larger issues.

If you can't make helpful comments, don't post on the Network status forum. People are coming here to find out when their server will be available, not to read your wonderful comments. Feel free to post on other forums, but this is not the place for your ranting, IMO.

The Chrysler server is almost ready to be swapped. I am just going to do one last rsync of MySQL which will take a couple of minutes.
