Default China problem

Hi there, I just wanted to move my sites over here, I have some Chinese sites on environmental awareness and vegetarianism. My friend recommended HG to me, he has some sites with HG and happy with it. My concern is: one of my target audience is mainland China, but the Chinese Gov't sometime blocks out some IP. So can you put me on a server with an IP that is not currently blocked by the Chinese? and if in future, that IP got blocked, can I request you to move my site into another server? Thank you. Our whole datacenter is not blocked by China, however IPs are blocked constantly by the Great Firewall of China so if an IP works one day, it might not the next.

We can move you to a different IP address if you choose to purchase one for $2/mo, but we cannot change the server or the IP address if it gets blocked unfortunately.

Do you mean through the thread here that was using defective or fake tools to check Not an accurate statement _Sam_

After all how else could the Chinese users subscribe to HG if that was the case

Leave Sam alone. I thought I read it somewhere once upon a time too. Yes, apparently we are both wrong, but make sure you read and take in the entire sentence, specifically the I think part.

Thank you for your reply.

I would like to order a Baby plan, please put me in an almost full server that is not blocked by the Great Firewall, (so that not so many new site will be added later, that minimize the chance of being blocked later)

can you give me one site name on that server, so that i can ask my Chinese friend to verify it is not blocked?

Thank you.

Well firstly I have yet to see you add anything helpful to this thread, just make other people's help seem useless.

And IMO _Sam_ is very knowledgable about these areas, I have seen him help lots of people and shown that he knows his stuff so I would expect it to be correct.

If you don't think so then why don't you add something to the thread...

Think for just a moment please. If China was blocking HG and the planet, how does HG sign up Chinese customers?

Keep in mind I am only assuming they do sign up Chinese customers due to the fact that there have been forum posters claiming to be from China complaining of the trouble with having to supply passports etc. which is not the norm for China.

And keep in mind that 90% of the forum spam attempts and hacking attempts on a server I lease through the HG/The Planet are originating from China.

So on this basis I have to say BS.

Sorry, I thought so because I saw other people say it, if you didn't know anything else and someone told you something about it then surely you would believe them.

Even if it isn't then as Wesley said the ip could get blocked any day. Just trying to help

I am adding my part to the thread when I am trying to correct false assumptions and statements.

When I asked _Sam_ where he got his info from, he answered: "I read about it somewhere".

You should also notice that what _Sam_ said was an assumption, but yours was a statement.

I know my site used to be OK from China, but isn't now. I used to have quite a lot of members from there, although most were quiet because of the language barrier. But I have a moderator on my forum who works in China a lot and for over a year she's not been able to get on when travelling there.

I know nothing will ever be foolproof, and the whims of the Chinese blocking system won't be easy to monitor, but I'm quite sure there is nothing on my site that would offend them, and it would be nice to think that like minded sites could be hosted on the same server to help reduce the likelihood of a blanket ban.

is there any more space on the server that host these sites? these are my friend's site and they can be reached from China: www.fan-fics-r-us.com , www.bitwisemag.com

I need less that 10G harddisk space, and bandwidth of about 400G monthly, presently.

I want to buy a Baby Plan now, can any Gator help me?

Send an email to sales@hostgator.com with that question, and a link to this thread.
