Checking for available features

I may be moving a client's site to Hostgator, but they are using a program that needs certain PHP and Apache settings. I found most of what they need is available on HG shared servers, but I could not find information on these:

Need:
- upload_tmp_dir must be set to a valid writable path on the server

Apache mod_security settings:
- SecFilterEngine and SecFilterScanPOST must be set to Off

mod_security must allow the following content types:
- application/java-archive
- application/octet-stream

Hopefully these are a non-issue.

Thank you for your interest in our hosting. We appreciate the inquiry as well. I'll just go down your list of requirements which all look possible in one way or another with our shared hosting.

upload_tmp_dir: This setting is no issue at all and would be configured from the php.ini file.

SecFilterEngine and SecFilterScanPOST are things we'd typically not recommend be disabled. More often then not we typically just whitelist mod_security rules as needed, not disabling it completely for your domains. This is possible however if it's an absolute necessity, though would be something our linux administrators would need to assist you with.

Both application/java-archive and application/octet-stream are not typically an issue as we don't block them.

Okay, so the php.ini file would available to edit with a shared hosting account?

We'd need to create it for you if you'd like a default php.ini to edit, but that can be done quickly via a phone call or our LiveChat. No problem at all though!
