Default Change domains for free, but limit the monthly changes for free.

Okay, I am have a reseller package and from time to time we need to change a client's main domain of their account...You all will do this but charge 5 dollars. Or we can go through this outrageous process that involves deleting an account and waiting on you all to backup something and honestly, I CBF.
Now the live support operator said you all do not do it for free because people could abuse it and take away from users who need support...
But what if you were to do a certain amount per month for free, but after that charge the 5 dollar fee...
Because it takes 1 minute to change a domain name for us, and I probubly would use one, maybe two per Month...But think about the larger hosting sites with you all that have to change domains frequently, It could rack up to costing MORE then thier monthly fee...You all could even make the amount of changes you get for free different for different packages...

Please consider this.

Its not needed,
People would abuse it support reps time wasted.
Just charge your client $10 and you just made $5 profit.
Also note that they must delete all Subdomains & Addondomains for this to work .

Did you even read my sugestion? I said to put a Monthly limit.

I pay 25 dollars a Month for this and that should include a few free changes. The limit would take care of people abusing the privilege. I should not have to charge my clients 10 dollars for this, I don't want to make a profit off bogus policys.

You pay $25 a month for a service that is outlined by a ToS (Terms of Service) which is pretty much the policy set forth by HG. You agree to those terms before you sign up. One of the policies that HG has is that you agree to pay $5 in order to change the main domain name that you originally signed up with. Therefore, the policy that you are stating is not a "bogus policy"...in fact its a policy that you have agreed to.

It doesnt matter how long it takes for the change to take place, the fact is, HG has to pay someone while they do it. Therefore, they charge you a little bit in order to recoup a little bit of that cost.

Even if HG were to give 1 change per month, with over a million accounts, lets say only half of those people use your "new" system. That is 500,000 requests to do something that only takes 1 minute to do. Therefore causing support staff to take 500,000 minutes away from true issues that are causing servers to be offline. Do the math on that.....it comes out to 8333.333333333333333 hours...which is a whole lot of time to be doing something for free.

$5 is not that much money that you have to pay in order to change a domain name on your account.

Always look at the larger picture. It shows more than what you see through the keyhole.

Quit frankly, Last night I nagged at the live support agent and got it done for free. Instead of doing something that takes one minute , We sat there for a good 25 minutes, And don't kid me. I know they do 4 or 5 support windows at a time and phone support...You are taking this to the extreme, I am sure most of HostGator's clients are on shared servers anyways

So I guess they should do backup restores and install ssl's for free too, right?

Just what is your time worth to you and why are you making it so cheap?

What are you trying to say? If it took HG 25 minutes, a $5 charge is very reasonable.

Two points. First, this is the kind of task that can be simple and quick, but which, in the case of screwup, becomes a tedious, obnoxious chore to tidy. It's worth $5 for the peace of mind and to push off the responsibility.

Second. Being a successful reseller involves more than shoveling out $25 and raking in client fees--it does take some work, which you either do yourself or pay to have done.

Additionally, your clients should expect to pay for added services. At least, that's what makes sense to me.
