For emails there is a feature call catch-all;
Example, I have an email created gator@gator.com. I just need to create a default email in cpanel, and it will capture all unrouted emails (like gatot@gator.com). How about domains? If my domain is hostgator.com, is there a feature to link all unrouted extensions to it. Example, hostgator.com/index.html is created, if users mistype it to hostgator.com/indexl.html, is there any way to link them to a particular page, instead of showing an error of page not found. Kindly advise. |

There is ways to do that.
You can create a 404 page with a java redirect on it to send them directly to index.php. You can use mod_rewrite to send them to index.php. (I've not been able to get this to work, so a nice example would help.) You can use .htaccess to send 404s to index.php. Of course, you can always create and edit a 404.shtml file that is just a helpful index for your site. That way when they land on it, it doesn't look like a 404 page. Check out my 404 page on my hosting site: http://magicangelhosting.com/not_here.php (of course, I just doom myself to a log full of 404 errors....) |

One of the best 404 pages I have seen.
