Are they the same bounce as I originally reported in this thread? I know that we're still having issues and Yahoo is still having issues getting back to us on the problem. Our phone calls from a few weeks ago have basically had no effect as we've received no callbacks nor return emails from "internal admins" who could assist in the issue. They've also no longer replied to our emails.

Some email has gotten through here and there, but most of it has bounced back.

You guys should be rerouting those "deffered" alert messages to a list of non-black-hole yahoo internal addresses.

All of our messages get through to Yahoo so far. Anyone want an account?

Have one customer (hosted on hostgator) that is constantly getting these deferred error messages. It has happened to my main reseller domain a few times in the last month and usually yahoo start accepting emails again a few days after I complete the online form. This is an email one of my customers received yesterday from yahoo after completing an online form requesting to be delisted.

Subject: Re: Getting deferrals due to user complaints
(KMM67896355V69591L0KM)

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mail.

Please note that if you are not the administrator of the mail server in question, kindly contact your email administrator directly with the error message you are receiving.

If you are seeing a 421 error code in your SMTP logs indicating that the messages you are trying to send are "temporarily deferred due to user complaints," this means that we have observed unusual traffic patterns from your IP address and have been getting considerable complaints from our users regarding emails from your server.

Please note that this is not a permanent error; your system may automatically re-try after a while. We encourage you to try re-sending to our emails approximately 4 hours after you encounter this error. If, however, you are seeing this same error consistently over a 48-hour period, we encourage you to provide us with more information so that we can help diagnose your problem.

For bulk mail senders, please visit the URL below to review our best practice recommendations and request assistance.

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mai...ster/bulk.html

If your mail server does not primarily send bulk mailings, please reply to this email and indicate the mail streams that are being sent from your email server(s), e.g., personal/corporate emails, transactional mailings, mailing list postings, newsletters.

Furthermore, if you haven't already done so, please provide the pertinent information about the issue:

a) Detailed description of the problem (including when it started);
b) The sending IP address(es) affected;
c) Specify all types of emails being sent from the outgoing mail server;
d) The specific error code(s) your servers are getting from our MTAs;
e) SMTP logs showing the entire mail transcript, from the initial attempt to connect to our MX up until the connection is eventually deferred/blocked.

Your patience during this process is greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Mail. Your case number for this issue is 46794270. Please reference it in all future communication about this particular issue.

Regards,

Samuel Cyprian

Here's what we've done so far to try to resolve this issue:

>> Followed their official procedure:
Filled out the forms and requested clarification/delisting.
>> Followed other procedures:
Emailed mail-abuse@yahoo-inc.com
Emailed ynoc-request@yahoo-inc.com
Emailed cc-priority@cc.yahoo-inc.com
Emailed cc-concierge@cc.yahoo-inc.com
>> Called their corporate number directly:
408-349-3300
>> Called internal Yahoo numbers:
(Not listed) - offered to send them pizza just to talk/work it out.
They were unable to clarify why this was an ongoing issue, or why we were
not receiving a response from any of the other methods used to communicate.
Heard promises of resolution, but no response/result after call.
>> Called Network Admin's cellphone:
(Not listed) - offered to send him pizza just to talk/work it out.
He was unable to clarify why this was an ongoing issue, or why we were
not receiving a response from any of the other methods used to communicate.
Stated he'd email other internal yahoo addresses for information and get back.
Heard promises of resolution, but no response/result after call.
>> Emailed one or two Yahoo employee accounts directly:
(Not listed). No result, no response.
So, to say their system is broken is a huge understatement. I can't even get Yahoo to COMMUNICATE, much less work to resolve the issue. Every other company I've worked with has at least been able to communicate with me and say "I'd like to have X done so we can do Y". Yahoo doesn't even do that; they just ignore requests and never get back to anyone. We are doing our best to open some sort of dialogue with them to discuss this issue, but it's not important to them so they just don't bother to do anything at all. Their official documentation states we shouldn't have to try to communicate directly with them, and that using their forms/emails should be sufficient. I'm fine with that, if they'd ever (ever) responded to that at all. They do not. In the end we're left spinning our wheels, making calls, trying to get someone from that "company" to communicate, and it feels like we're talking to a brick wall. So that's been our Yahoo experience so far.

I appreciate your efforts, Hostgator peeps.

I think it is important to keep documenting what you've done, because this speaks volumes about your service.

Eventually the logjam will break, and the problem will be patched. It's obvious that Yahoo (et al) simply doesn't care about legitimate mail traffic. They're too busy with merger talks, golden parachutes, etc.

Hey folks- I'm not actually a hostgator customer, but I believe that I may have managed to get some resolution to the Yahoo email troubles of late. I found some contact info for an employee that maintains a blog of sorts, and emailed him with a plea for help. I've been having the same issues as detailed in the thread here, and used it as another example of what I'm dealing with. I just got a reply from him last night that my hosts have been cleared from their lists, and according to the forwarded message, "most of hostgator's gateways are fixed as well."

Of course I was trying to get my own issues fixed, but it sounds like they got yours taken care of too. If anybody from hostgator wants the contact info, PM me and I'll send it- I'd rather not post it here since the guy I contacted isn't a support person per se, and did me a favor helping me out. I don't want him to get bombarded.

I just sent a test email, and it got through immediately. I haven't had that happen for a while - but then, I've been avoiding sending emails to yahoo so it may have been fixed for a while and I wouldn't have known it.

But I'm not going to say it is fixed 100% until I don't get any bounces from them for a full month. I had one just late last week.

I sent an email to my mailing list today . . . of which there are about 250 Yahoo addresses . . . and which I've normally been seeing about 20-30 "deferred" bounces.

We shall see what tomorrow brings.

Well, since this issue first started, this is the FIRST time I've not had any "deferred" bounced emails from Yahoo. (knock on wood)

How strange! It's not just with HG. I had this issue with my former hosting. I always wonderd what that was all about.

Looks like yahoo has big issues to work out.

I hope this gets solved ASAP as a lot of users sign up on my website with Yahoo email addresses.

This is definitely bad news for forum board Administrators.

The original issue stated in the beginning of this forum thread has been resolved for quite some time now.
