During registration to access this board I had to give my personal information including my shared hosting account login, url, & the server I'm hosted on here at Hostgator.
It just seems reallly counter productive for paying customers not to be able to search these forums....i.e. whats the point? Every time I try the search I'm brought to a "you have no permission to access this feature" message! Is there a waiting period for me to get this access or will that never be granted? Thank you, |

Your accounts have to be validated prior to being able to see the remainder of the forums and being able to use the search feature. Usually this is done within 24-48 hours of signing up on the forums. If you already waited that long, please click here to send a PM to GatorJay with your request.
(FireStorM, with your request, please include the server that you are on as well as your username. It appears that information was not supplied during registration and it will make it easier to locate the account.) |

I'm surprised the existing FAQ's don't mention anything about not being able to search the forum until your validated. |

I can post, but not search????!!!
I am interested in some issues that could easily be answered by searching this forum. The forum title PRE SALES!!! how can I search the pre sales questions when I can't honestly answer the registration questions. I dont have an account! There is no option for that when filling out the questionaire. So, I just fill in asdfsdfs in the blanks because I don't have a URL, etc. Search should not be restircted when you are looking for customers that would want to find out answere to questions that have been asked many times, but a 12 pages back. |

I read that post before posting this thread, but it does not address the issue of not being able to search the Pre-Sales section. I just think that this is strange for people that are trying to determine is if a particular question has already been answered.
Here is what happens when you try to search BEFORE you register: Option to search is not available...SO you try to register to use Search.. You register, then realize there is no way to answer questions in registration because they do not offer a way to say that you do not have service and that you are shopping. Now, you decide to go throough registration anyway, and find out that you can't search because it is blocked until you're approved as a paying customer. Then you find yourself thinking, "What are they trying to hide?" by not letting me search the PRE-SALES section. (my suggestion here is to create a (I am shopping for service) account while registering that allows people to search the PRE-SALES section. OR simply turn on the search function. The point of this forum, to some degree is to provide access for consumers to observe your customer service levels thereby functioing as advertising, right? I think it is great you have this forum for your service, but it seems a bit off to have search disabled. If it is a bandwidth issue turn on flood control, but you have huge server facilities right? Thanks, Strathen |
