Thumbs down Can't even get accout setup!

Purchased the Baby Gator on 9/4 and it is now 9/6 their auto mail said it takes 20 minutes to setup. This is the third day and host gator will not even answer their phone. I have clients all over me and host gator won't even acknowledge... Terrible!!!

Please email us at sales@hostgator.com so we can look into this for you. Our phone center is currently offline due to Hurricane Ike.

If you paid by paypal e-check, the payment may take 5+ days to clear which would delay your account setup.

I have been emailing host gator and I get emails back that say that I have to call. Endless go nowhere cycle. Paid with CC.

If it is a verification email you do not have to call, there are optional instructions on there as well. Please provide your ticket numbers and primary domain so we can look into this for you.

Thanks for providing me with the ticket ID. I checked into the issue and your account was indeed flagged for additional verification. This is a pretty standard occurrence and is one that thousands of our customers work through without many issues.

Since our phone system is down to the hurricane, here is an alternative:

A.) Who has weeks to wait for an account to get open. No one has time for mail to be received. Your e-mail said 20 minutes, it has been 4 days. Some of us have deadlines to meet, clients who expect things get done.

B.) What fool would actually send vital personal information to sit around on a desk or passed around an office to be easily use to loot financial accounts. Non of the information is needed to open an account. A passport! You must be joking. Sounds like a con to me. I wasn't born yesterday; I know how ID theft works.

I expect to receive proof that my personal and credit card information has be fully purged from your system(s).

Most customers choose to scan in their information and email it to us or send it in via our secure helpdesk (link).

If we stole the identities of every person who sent in information for us to verify, we would not only be out of business, but in jail. HostGator is a well respected company that is one of the largest companies in the industry. We do not steal the identities of those who send in information for us to verify nor do we pass it around the office in any way, shape, or form. The idea behind our verification process is to prevent identity theft, not to encourage it.

Our email did say 20 minutes, but we have the right to put accounts on hold that raise a flag as credit card/identity fraud is very high in this industry.

The ISP that you signed up from is showing to be 1315 miles away from your postal address, that is what caused this.

Our ticket system is secure and our employees are background checked before they enter our sales department to go over this kind of information. If you do not feel safe verifying by this method, send me a private message with your phone number and the best time to call (I'm available until 10PM CST) and I will personally call you to get this straightened out.

That is your problem. Don't make it mine. You said 20 min, you did not qualify the 20 mins.

Not an excuse, do you provide any service to businesses? Some are nationwide, there are even others that are worldwide. The internet is more than high school kids in a garage. You should expect mobility from your customers and at the very least POST a notice that HOSTING WILL NOT be provided unless ISP is at billing address. Pathetic.

We're currently undergoing the aftermath of a Hurricane that hit Houston and is about the same damage or more than Katrina. Please understand almost 2 million customers in Houston have *NO POWER*. We are working actively out of remote makeshift offices and are working our hardest but we are unable to receive calls and are making outbound verification calls that are still in the US via land lines and personal cell phones. Please bear with us and we will help you as soon as we possibly can. Thank you.

We just tried calling you to avoid sending in documentation and there was no answer and the mailbox was full. We did email you to the email address that was used to order this account and you replied as well CKL-2945711, so we did try to contact you.

We are trying to work with you on this, not come up with excuses.

Please read our Terms of Service that you agreed to when ordering this account that says that we screen new orders:

Therefore, this is not false advertising at all.

If you cannot provide us with a correct phone number for this order, we will not be able to verify this and will need to close your account. The initial charge was refunded when your account was put on hold.

As Wesley said, your initial charge was voided and refunded. Our standard procedure is to void and refund a charge for an account that has not been verified. This is what was done on your account.

As per your request, we have gone ahead and cleared your credit card information from our billing. We also disabled your account in our billing system.

I apologize about the inconveniences. Verification of accounts is something we have to do to protect not only ourselves, but our existing and potential customers.

I wish you the best of luck with your web sites and your business in the future.
