This is my first time purchasing a domain/hosting, and working with them, so I am kinda a newb!
The hostgator name servers I was supplied with has been put into my godaddy domain settings overwriting what they supplied, this was days ago, however I was able to connect to my FTP only once to try and upload content. But now I can't! I am wondering if the name servers need more time to register amongst networks because I can not dns my domain name, nor can I connect to my ftp via domain name, nor ip address ..., However, I can access my ftp via cpanel! I do know it takes 24/48 hours to register! I have also checked dns records, and the hostgator nameservers are registered with my domain from godaddy! There has been more than enough time for the nameservers to register, so I am just curious if anyone has ever had this problem, and knows of a solution, only thing I know to do is wait! Any help is appreciated! --Gary |

If you will provide the domain name we can check and see if it is resolving for us or if there is a problem. You should be able to connect using FTP if you use the IP address as the FTP host.

The name servers should not impact yoru FTP access. Use your IP address to get in. Now, I assume you have an FTP client but if not CoreFTP is what I use and it is free: http://www.coreftp.com/
Once you have your FTP agent open, use the IP, Username, and Password from your welcome e-mail in your FTP agent. that should allow you to get access to your hosting account so you can upload files. Now, you should also confirm that your domain is accessable via the web using a standard URL like: http://forums.hostgator.com/showthre...204#post103204 If that does not work, then it depends if this was the main domain for the server or an add-on domain. If it was an add-on, I assume you added it as well and you know which directory will be working with that domain? Lots of possibilities here but perhaps this is a start to getting you running. EDIT - I type too slow |

Contact HG support and ask them to check their firewall. And if that is the case then you MUST lower the simultanious connections setting in your FTP client.

I have a few domains registered with GoDaddy and from my experience, the changing of nameservers always resolve within minutes...

I am seeing the default HG page in your account so it looks like the page is resolving fine. If you are unable to see the page or getting a time out then it is possible that your IP is being blocked due to failed logins. You should contact the Help Desk and open a ticket so that they can look at the firewall and remove the block if that is the case.
