If you value your current wordpress installation then do not try and upgrade it via fantastico, upgrade it manually.

Fantastico has a nasty habit of mucking up up-grades to software you install with it.

Yeah thanks for the heads up. I just want the new installs of Wordress to be the latest version.

Just thought they (hostgator) might be able to do that on my behalf...since I am only on a shared connection.

You can install it the normal way,
I doubt HG would do it for you...

Mainly I use Fantasico to test before taking the plunge.

Its quite simple to upgrade it, if you are only doing the upgrade for the security patch. Its a 1 file overwrite, listed on the wordpress website.
