Question Can we do these in VPS? (Part 2)

Can we do these in VPS? (Part 1)

  1. Install our own OS (ie. use Ubuntu instead of CentOS)
  2. Reformat the hard disk
  3. Uninstall the Virtuozzo
  4. Reinstall the Virtuozzo
  5. Run Plesk
  6. Change the Hostname displayed in the Container

Keep in mind that the forum is primarily for peer support. For definitive answers to specific questions it is best to email support or open a ticket. I would not recommend Live Chat for VPS questions as it is still pretty new. That also means not a lot of users here have experience with VPS with HG and are able to answer as readily as in some of the other areas (such as shared/reseller/dedicated areas.)

I mention this mainly because there are a lot of new forum members since the soft launch of the VPS service and I've seen several posts that would be handled better through a ticket. Hopefully many of the new VPS customers will stick around the forum and be able to answer the basic questions.

Support has been pretty good about answering here but I wouldn't expect them to have time to view the forum regularly. I also suspect that there are a few techs that are the go to guys for the VPS issues and I suspect they are pretty busy right with the new issues.

Yup. Live Chat didn't seem to know much at all the two times I've asked them about VPS's and what they did tell me was entirely wrong.

My support ticket was dealt with appropriately though and they seemed to know what they were doing.

Hello,

For this soft launch, I recommend that anyone who has an issue with their VPS or has in depth questions (questions on functionality, advanced features, etc) should submit a ticket. We're still hammering out issues, and some small problems could turn out to be larger problems that need to be dealt with by an upper tier administrator. However, generic pricing concerns, feature sets, and limitations are answerable by our live chat technicians.

This post is intended for information purposes, I hope this will be a help to future readers who have the same question as me. These questions are not my issue (and one is no longer my issue).
