can VPS Hosting LvL 1 do this?

i'm looking into purchasing a VPS to run one internet browser 24/7. i will have an auto clicker clicking on something inside this internet browser. PS, i'm not doing any of those make money from clicking ads thing, rather i'm having the auto clicker click on a browser based game.

can hostgator lvl 1 VPS do this for me? when i try to order the lvl 1 VPS i notice that it asks me for a domain ownership/domain name. i do not want to host a website or anything, i just need a VPS that can run an internet browser. thx.

I guess technically the VPS can do whatever you want it to, but is it designed for the purpose you're looking for out of the box? Not really. This would require you to install a number of applications and daemons including but not limited to an X window server, VNC, and then some form of bot application that would actually do the clicking for you (unless there is some command line tool which would do this that I am not aware of).

Unfortunately since this purpose deviates greatly from web site hosting specifically, and since this is a Level 1 VPS we would not be able to support or assist you in these matters.

In short, If you know how to get a stock CentOS installation up to the point that it can run a browser and some form of mouse automation application, then our VPS can definitely do this with your help. If not, unfortunately we would be unable to help you with it.


In regards to the domain, it is generally best to have a domain that you can point to any server so that you have an easy to remember reference of how to get to the server, however this is not necessary and an IP address can always be used. If you did want to purchase a VPS from us the domain you enter into there doesn't necessarily have to be real. You could always put in a fake domain, and just access the VPS through the IP address directly.

It all depends on if you can do it with the configuration provided by HostGator.
I see memory and processing power as the only hurdle that can prevent such a use of VPS, so go for bigger memory.
