I know, I know, it is the curse of Bill Gates. But I need Microsoft Outlook to work on my email for my Links Manager program.
I switched over to Hostgator 3 weeks ago and the server is working well. I originally set up the email accounts at that time.I have used the C panel to download to Outlook Express auto-config file to my registry. Yet I continue to get the error message in Microsoft Outlook when i try to send or recieve email "Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0F): "The connection to the server was interupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider" I just got off the phone with Microsoft support for the last hour. They also believe it is in the server. I have already opened and examined the "email.reg" file sent to me by my server and every thing looks correct as per the information in the email accounts settings for Microsoft Outlook. With 1 exception, on Microsoft Outlook it has the "Server Port Number" for the Incoming server (POP3) as 110. When I open the email.reg file it shows "dword:0000006e". Also in Microsoft Outlook the Outgoing Server (SMTP) as "25" where the email.reg file shows "dword:00000019" Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated |

Try changing the port on your smtp server to 26. Sometimes the ISP blocks 25.

How do you change the port on the SMTP server
I have changed some of the settings in Outlook and now the error message says "no response from server" It appears the port information is correct. The email server refuses to reply Last edited by Freakindj; 11-06-2004 at 04:50 PM. |

For outlook 2002/2003:
click on Tools ->Email Accounts -> view or change existing email accounts -> next -> click on the email account -> change -> more settings -> advanced tab. Just change port 25 to port 26. |

Hi Justin
I was talking about on the server side Of course I went into Outlook and changed the port setting, but when I did that it refused to connect. Outlook is able to connect to port 25. The server is not replying |

Your isp is probably blocking port 25. Do you have a firewall running? If you do, try connecting on port 26 without the firewall.

I'll try to explain this again
THE EMAIL SERVER IS NOT RESPONDING Yes I can connect to port 26, but the email server does not respond when I try to send the email. The server is worthless if I can not use Links Management softwear. It is like having web space not connected to the internet |

All of the servers should have exim running on both ports. The only thing I can recommend is that you open a support ticket.

OK sorry for all the grumbling
The problem exist soley in Microsoft Outlook (part of Microsoft Office) irregardless of what their technical support is saying. I just got off the phone with my ISP's service department and they assured me port 25 is not blocked. I then opened Outlook Express and confiqured it to send and recieve to the email server and it worked flawlessly. So as I first said once again it is the curse of Bill Gates hard at work here |
