Hi,
I`m looking to improve my site to get more visitors and hopefully submissions to the various areas (articles/reviews glossary/forums/etc....). All ideas will be taken into consideration, and most likely most will be implimented in one way or another. Theres a few sections unavailable atm due to being redesigned/coded, but they`ll be online shortly. The site is www.carpfishinguk.net Thanks in advance Last edited by sford999; 04-14-2006 at 07:22 PM. |

You should try to get all full header at top of your site. This small blue header in the middle doesn't help me to stay on the site after I am on it.
I know this is not a way to get more visitors, but's help to keep them on site when they are sent to it. |

I think it would look better with some more images. May be a picture of a fish on the home page?

From my limited knowledge of SEO make sure all your page titles are in h1 tags, and don't use 'strong' tag, use 'b' as it takes less code (marginally).

OK I`ve followed a few suggestions from here and other places and I`ve come up with this new design: http://www.carpfishinguk.net/new/index.html
I`m putting the final decision down to the members as its primarily for them, but any suggestions are more than welcome. Please note thats its still a work in progress |

Yes it looks great for me in green.
Just need to space out the letters in "Welcome" on top and I can't say anything else about it. Best Regards,

What? Another Carp site?
We recently finished a Carp and Catfish fishing website too. See::>::::: www.fishinginthailand.com Take a look if you want, check the body text and metatags, the site uses css and divs, all styles in css and not in html body. Take a look at the source, you will see some of the SE stuff we do, simple things like having the title tag right under the head tag. We were careful to balance keywords in metatags, body text, alt image tags, etc.... The client for this site also uses Google Adwords (yeah, we know that Google IS evil) and Yahoo/Overture marketing and has been getting very good results from these for quite a small investment. The key to getting visitors is search engine results. The "secret" to getting on the search engines in good rank is simple, have good and meainingful content, don't use irrelevant keywords to try to trick hits, honesty is the best policy combined with good html / css structures.... use keywords that are related to the content, use same keywords (fishing, carp, angling, water sports) in the title, the metatags, the description, alt image tags, body text. Adding a few H1 and H2 tags near top of page helps tooo....... Cheers

Thanks for your comments.
The site itself has been running since pre-2002 (since sept 02 on its own domain name, previous to that it was on my ISP`s free webspace) but theres been quite a few changes over that time which may or may not have put people off the site. Now that I have more time to put into the site I`m looking to improve it somewhat, hence this topic
