how can i keep track of how many times files from a certain directory are downloaded? :|

There are many scripts out there to keep track of specific downloads. Just do a quick search on Google for some.

I use the following on my site.

http://www.betheweb.com/products/dlcounter/

You have to add a cgi prefix to every single a href tag that you want counted.

Example: my site has .zip downloads. For every a href with a .zip link I have added the cgi prefix.

You can view the downloads via web browser for today's counts, total counts, monthly counts etc.

I'm using the free version and it works fine for me.
