Default can I add templates to phpbb2 after I install with fantastico?

I cannot find any phpbb2 folders in my file manager to load my templates into.

another little problem that popped up. I tried to install the SMF Discussion board. I understand that Hostgator isn't responsible for the software, but shouldn't it run after I install it form fantastico?

I can't speak from experience as I haven't tried it myself (yet, although I have a local "user" that wants me to investigate this), but you should find the templates directory at:

/home/{account}/public_html/{phpbb2}/templates/

I don't know the specific procedure for making phpBB "aware" of new templates, but I'm sure there are posts about that on the phpBB forum.

P.S. The latest version is actually 2.0.18; I manually upgraded mine (bug/security fixes).

Can you give a quick summary of that process? I noted there had been an update made available.

Had you modded phpBB much before that?

TIA

If your using the"File Manager" in Cpanel, it will open default in your root directory. You need to open the "public_html" directory. There you will find all your files and directories what is for visitor view when accessing your webpages, or forums? If you had phbb2 install into a different directory, aka "/phpbb2/", then go to your "templates" directory and upload your new template in it's own directory.
I personally would use a FTP client like "cuteFTP" or there are some free ones out there, just search for them on google. It is much better to do file management with one of these for your website.

When you go into the forum admin area, go to the "styles admin", go to add and if you uploaded your new template correctly you will see it, just add it. Then go to the main configuration and your profile and select that new template.

Work with this first, learn & understand "Basic file management" first before doing any updates.

Quick summary: downloaded the "full package", uploaded all the files and ran the update_to_latest.php script for any table changes. There IS at least one new table since 2.0.17 - phpbb_sessions_keys, I think.

Beyond that, I haven't actually modified phpBB itself.
