I am trying to setup browser access to email for all of my users. I following the instructions, created a subdomain and redirected it to http://www.mydomain.com:2095/horde/index.php.
This works find except for the fact that I am being prompted to enter the username and password for my cpanel before given access to the login page for Horde. I obviously do not want to give the username and password to cpanel and I am hoping to redirect my users to the email log in page and all they have to worry about is knowing their username and password only. Please advise Tarik |

The login prompt is the only way to determine which inbox to display. Without logging in, there would be know way of knowing if you are attempting to access the inbox for john@yourdomain.com, or mary@yourdomain.com.

Justin,
I have not problems with the logging process. My issues is with the Network logging. Every time I attempt to access the the logging screen for the email, I get prompted on a pop window to enter A network Password. Once I enter the my Cpanel username and password, the mail logging web page is displayed. Consequenly, I am having to enter the username and password twice. Once on the pop up window and then on the email web page. I am trying to get rid off the Network Password popup. Thanks Tarik |

Tarik,
There is no way to get rid of that popup as that is how they log in to the mail system. I know it seems a bit redundant, but once they log in with the popup, their password will be automatically populated in Horde. At least they are not typing the password twice. They will just have the extra step of clicking the login button on Horde. If you do not require all of the features of horde, you can use Neomail wich is an acceptable mail client that would not have the second login. Keep in mind that the popup is not asking for your cpanel username and password unless you are checking the main mail account; it is asking for the mail username and password. The username must be in the format of username@domain.com if it is not your main email account. - Justin Last edited by Justin; 12-19-2004 at 09:13 PM. |
