Neutral Browser access to email

Currently, you designate a port for accessing email via the web, using a browser, that is:

www.mydomainname.com/webmail
becomes
www.mydomainname.com:2095

This presents a problem for me, because I am behind a firewall, which does not allow access to that port.

Why is this so?
I am sure there are other ways of accessing email via the web that don't require me to go through a special port.

I understand that you also provide POP email access, but that can also get blocked as well.

In fact, as I understand it, the objective of webmail is so that you can get your email from any web browser.

This same issue exists for accessing cpanel, but this is not as critical as accessing email.

I appreciate knowing what suggestions anyone can provide about this issue, or if HostGator can present me with a solution.

Thank you.

John

I need the same solution but the link to the thread didn't work and a search on cpanel proxy takes me back here.

Hi,

I don't see why the link to the thread did not work for you...
Anyway, here's the direct link to the cPanel Proxy.

Stef.

Stef,

You're my hero! I was ticked that I couldn't access cpanel and webmail from behind the frikkin' firewalls at work. The auto-installer worked like a champ and had me accessing the panel and e-mail within 30 seconds.

Thank you!

Hi,

glad this helped you out
Keep in mind you're like breaking the security rules at your work doing this.

I use of all things yahoo mail via browser. I forward all my mail to my yahoo account. I can keep things all nice and tidy and organized. Their spam filters are pretty good and even learn as you report spam when it shows up. My favorite feature is the calendar. I can post my appointments or to do's to the calendar and it emails me reminders (that I need oh so badly lol).

Maybe an option.
